BIO-PROTAN®Microfoliar is a liquid compound of micronutrients complexed to organic molecules produced by hydrolysis of natural protein. The unique formulation of naturally chelated microelements and amino acids (the organic molecules and “building blocks” from which proteins are made) helps to prevent micronutrient deficiencies stimulating simultaneously the metabolism of the plant. BIO-PROTAN®Microfoliar is a multifunction product performing at the same time as bio-stimulant (amino acids are responsible for a rapid recovery in the event of stress) and deficiency corrector (balanced pool of micronutrients).
BIO-PROTAN®Microfoliar is a foliar bio-stimulant with a high content of natural amino acids. The bio-stimulant effect depends from the molecular size of amino acids contained in the product. Amino acids (the smallest organic molecules in the compound) are quickly absorbed by the leafs and tissues of the plant where they are used for the production of proteins and sugar, enzymes and plant growth regulators, increasing vegetative activity, stress resistance and quality of the agricultural production.
Beyond the positive influence on plant vegetative development and the recommendation to use Microfoliar amino acids particularly on stress situations, amino acids do interact with microelements as well. Amino acids are natural chelates able to ligate (“link”) with microelements and form a metal complex. Free amino acids are also very effective in conveying the linked microelements through the cells to the sites of utilization, helping to overcome chemical and physical barriers of the leaf cuticle, the cell wall and the lymphatic system. Combining microelements and amino acids in foliar spray solutions leads to an increase of micronutrient-treatment efficacy and reduces the fertilizer application dose. The higher the content of free amino acids, the higher the micronutrient efficiency.
BIO-PROTAN®Microfoliar provides microelements with high bioavailability and is therefore an indispensable accompaniment to the basic fertilization in citrus trees and other fruit crops with high demand of essential micronutrients. We recommend BIO-PROTAN®Microfoliar for the prevention of micronutrient deficiency, to support the vegetative development and increase the photosynthesis process. The use of Microfoliar prevents sulphur deficiency chlorosis, stimulates fruit swelling and diminish the early fruit drop off.
BIO-PROTAN®Microfoliar is water soluble without any precipitation that could clog filters and nozzles of the irrigation system and is free from any chemical components that could be harmful to the soil and crops.

Vegetable and industrial crops (watermelon and eggplant) | Every 12-14 days in full vegetative growth as needed | 1,5-3 L/ha |
Greenhouse crops | 2-4 applications every 7-10 days from pre-flowering to fruit enlargement (vegetable crops) or during the whole crop cycle (leafy vegetables and flower crops) | 100-200 ml/hl |
Dilute BIO-PROTAN®Microfoliar before using it on plants. In case of inexperienced handling we recommend a preliminary test on small areas before extending the treatment to the entire culture. The dosages advised are purely indicative and may vary depending on crop, crop vegetative cycle, climatic conditions and average yields expected.
In the greenhouse and when mixed with sulphur and trace elements apply the lowest recommended dose.
With the exception of the olive grove avoid use in conjunction with copper, stannous, sulphur based products and mineral oils since the combination with free amino acids improves the absorption rate and can result in phytotoxicity.
