All living beings require L-amino acids as basic structural units for the formation of proteins and as starting material for the synthesis of other essential substances. The normal and most practiced way of amino acid supply to the plant is indirect and makes use only of the roots. The roots absorb inorganic nitrogen fertilizers from the soil (ammonia, nitrate, urea …) and the plant transforms it into L-amino acids by enzymatic processes. All these steps are running naturally if the soil, water and plant physiologies are optimal. Beyond favourable climatic and soil conditions, every plant needs energy for the transport, transformation and synthesis of biological macromolecules.
Since the seventies, the alternative of direct supply of amino acids by foliar application has become more and more practiced. Compared to conventional soil fertilization this method has no need of nutrient dispensation in the soil and no need for biochemical transformation of inorganic nitrogen to organic amino acids. At early and essential stages of plant development amino acids sprayed on the leaf are quickly up-taken by the leaf tissue and used as starting material for the synthesis of proteins, enzymes and sugars. Free amino acids improve significantly the development, metabolism and growth of the plant.
Foliar application of amino acids is particularly helpful and widely practiced before and during stress situations when plant growth retardation or plant damage occurs. Stress conditions can include factors such as low temperatures, pest treatment weakening and soil fixation of conventional fertilizers.
The extensive use of amino acid treatments in Mediterranean countries is a demonstration for the positive effect of amino acid spraying solutions for crop bio-stimulation and nutrition. The method represents an alternative to the conventional formation of biological macro-molecules skipping over the energy consuming steps of amino acid synthesis. Nevertheless, amino acid micro-molecules should not be regarded as an alternative to soil fertilization; free amino acids are a successful and complementary support for the yields increase of conventional soil fertilizers with ready to use “endogenous" building blocks applied by an alternative method: …. through the leaf.
AMINOPOOL®80 and micro-granulate AMINOPOOL®80 MGX are pure organic compounds resulting from the hydrolysis of natural protein. The AMINOGRAM of free and total amino acids (the organic molecules and “building blocks” forming proteins) pictures a balanced amino acid composition and is proof for the natural origin of AMINOPOOL®80. According to High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) analysis, almost all amino acids are available in free form.
AMINOPOOL®80 is suitable for soil and foliar application. However, we particularly recommend a foliar spray for plant stimulation and plant stress reduction. The bio-stimulant effect comes from the small molecule size of the amino acids contained in the product. In fact, all molecules of AMINOPOOL®80 are smaller than 800 Dalton, the atomic mass limit for the passage of molecules through the plant leaf stomata. Free amino acids absorbed by the plant leafs and tissues rapidly increase plant vegetative activity, stress resistance and quality of the agricultural production. The foliar application of exogenous amino acids is very helpful under adverse environmental conditions (transplanting, cold, salinity, drought and hail) and helps the plant to save the energy otherwise used for the synthesis and translocation of endogenous amino acids.
Particularly noteworthy in the context of stress reduction is the combination of AMINOPOOL®80 with the most used fungicides, herbicides, insecticides as an effective support to plant recovery after the treatment.
Beyond their positive influence on plant vegetative development and stress reduction, AMINOPOOL®80 amino acids do interact with macro and microelements enhancing their absorption. The chelating effect of certain amino acids (glycine as one example) enables microelements like magnesium, iron, zinc and boron to ligate (“link”) with amino acids, form a metal complex and be more easily assimilated by the plant. AMINOPOOL®80 free amino acids are able to link and carry micronutrients rapidly thorough plant cells to the site of utilization, overcoming chemical and physical barriers of the leaf cuticle, the cell wall and the lymphatic system. The result is a higher efficacy of micronutrient treatments and a lower application dose of microelement fertilizer. The higher the content of free amino acids in the compound, the higher the micronutrient treatment effectiveness.
AMINOPOOL®80 is also a rich source of pure organic nitrogen and is virtually free from Sodium, Phosphates and Chlorides. The product is water soluble for easy foliar and soil uptake and is free from any chemical components that could be harmful to the soil and crops.
AMINOPOOL®80 is available in powder and Micro Granules (MGX) form. Micro granules are free-flowing, dust free and less hygroscopic compared to conventional protein hydrolysate and amino acid powders.
AMINOPOOL®80 and AMINOPOOL®80 MGX are “Made in Europe” in conformity to European REACH Directive, European animal by-products Regulation (1069/2009/EC) and the European Trade Control and Expert System (TRACES).

AMINOPOOL®80 can be used with all plants. Dilute product before use. In case of inexperienced handling, we recommend a preliminary test on small areas before extending the treatment to the entire culture. The dosages advised are purely indicative and may vary depending on crop, crop vegetative cycle, climatic conditions and average yields expected.
